Adding your calendars.

Add the account on iPhone or iPad

Calendar accounts live in the Settings app, not inside Astrical. Adding one there makes it available to Apple Calendar, and Astrical reads from that.

1. Open the Settings app. Leave Astrical and open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Go to Apps → Calendar → Accounts. If you do not see an Apps section, your iOS version uses the older path: Settings → Calendar → Accounts.
3. Tap Add Account. Choose iCloud, Google, Outlook, Exchange, Yahoo, or Other.
4. Sign in with that provider. The sign-in screen belongs to Apple, Google, or Microsoft — not to Astrical. Your password goes to them and is never shared with us.
5. Make sure Calendars is switched on for the account before you leave. Some providers add Mail and Contacts by default and leave Calendars off.

Reopen Astrical and the calendars appear. There is nothing to sign into on our side.

Allow Astrical to use them

Astrical asks for calendar access the first time you open it. If that prompt was dismissed, or if events show but cannot be edited, grant it in Settings:

1. Open Settings → Apps → Astrical → Calendars and choose Full Access.
2. For reminders alongside events, also allow Settings → Apps → Astrical → Reminders.

Full Access rather than Add Only: Add Only lets an app create events but not read or change them, which means no month view, no editing, and no way to show you what is already booked. Astrical needs to read to be a calendar at all. It still keeps everything on your device and in your own accounts — see the privacy policy.

Choose which calendars show

Most accounts bring several calendars, and you rarely want all of them at once. In Astrical, open Settings and tap Show Calendars to turn individual calendars on and off.

Hiding a calendar here changes only what Astrical displays. Nothing is deleted, no one else is affected, and the calendar stays exactly as it is in the account it came from.

On a Mac

1. Add the account in System Settings → Internet Accounts and make sure Calendars is enabled for it.
2. Allow access in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars and switch on Astrical.

Accounts added on a Mac signed into the same iCloud account generally appear on your other devices too, and the reverse. If one shows up in a different place first, that is iCloud syncing rather than anything Astrical does.

On Apple Watch

Nothing to set up. The Astrical watch app and its complications follow the calendars on your paired iPhone. Add an account there and it reaches your wrist on its own.

If a calendar is missing

Worth checking in this order — the first two cover almost every case.

1. Is Calendars switched on for the account? Settings → Apps → Calendar → Accounts, tap the account, and check the Calendars toggle. An account added for Mail alone brings no calendars.
2. Is it hidden in Astrical? Astrical Settings → Show Calendars. The count next to it tells you how many of your calendars are currently visible.
3. Does it appear in Apple's own Calendar app? If it is missing there too, the account needs attention in Settings rather than in Astrical — Astrical shows what the system provides.
4. Is access still Add Only? Settings → Apps → Astrical → Calendars should say Full Access.
